4 Uses For Your Pressure Washer You May Not Have Considered

Posted on

A pressure washer or power washer as they are sometimes called, have many uses, but there are some common uses and some not so common uses you may not have considered. If you have a power washer, here are some things you might want to try using it for next time you have it out.

1. Cleaning Your Grill

One great way to get all the grease and grime off your backyard grill is to disassemble it and spread the parts out on the grass. Using your power washer and some mild soap with a grease cutter in it, you can power away from the grease and get back to the shiny stainless steel underneath. Turn the pressure down so that you remove the grease but don't damage the plastic parts of the grill or any soft metal parts on the grill. You will be surprised how good that grill looks after a good power wash.

2. Cleaning your Outdoor Furniture

How many times have you pulled out the deck chairs, outdoor table, and chairs, and found them looking terrible? Put the table and chairs out in the yard where you can work around them and give the pressure washer a try. If you work carefully, you can peel the layers of winter grime off the furniture and get it looking great for your spring and summer cookout or those mornings when you just want to sit an enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning sun.

3. Cleaning the Fence

If you have a vinyl fence, over time the fence can start to look grungy. You can go out with soap and a brush and wash the fence down, but a more effective option is to use the pressure washer. Get a small sprayer tank at the local garden store and add soap and water to it. Spray the fence down with the soap mixture starting at the top then follow that with the pressure washer. Spray from the top to the bottom and work your way along the fence. Before you know it, the fence will look new again, and your neighbors will be asking how you got it so clean.

 4. Washing Your Wooden Deck

A great way to clean your deck in the spring is with your pressure washer. If you use the pressure washer for the deck, pay very close attention to the water stream as you work. Do not stop in one spot with the sprayer on. The pressure from the water can damage the wood, but if you keep the sprayer moving, it is a great way to take the dirt off the surface and keep the deck looking great. After you clean it, let it dry for a few days then you can add some oil or wax to the wood to make it look even better. If the deck is sealed, you will not need the oil.
